A frame of everyday Taoyangli
Sunlight, old buildings, and a green station. A photograph from Jingdezhen, and a way of seeing home again.
An old street holding yesterday and today in the same light.
Inside this frame
Sunlight falls on the old streets of Taoyangli. Historic buildings and a green station share the frame: a corner of the street, and a small part of everyday life at home.
“An old street holding yesterday and today in the same light.” This is the caption I kept with the photograph.
From photographs to films
I have also made several short videos about Jingdezhen. Telling other people about familiar streets helped me see my hometown again.
Photographs and videos offer two ways to look back. A photograph holds one moment; moving images extend the record of home.
